Nice to meet you,
I'm Heather Smith
I am an artist, born and raised in King, North Carolina. In 2015, I traded my school books in for paintbrushes and never looked back. I married my high-school sweetheart in 2015 and we now have a sweet little girl, Ruby Joley, who has most definitely stolen our hearts. My passion for art started at a very young age where I remember watching my dad sketch cartoon characters in his notepad and spend hours on end trying to copy his coloring skills in my coloring books. Art is something that brings me so much happiness and I am thrilled to be able to share my art with you!

a bit more about
My story
Growing up I never cared for school and found it almost impossible to muster up the motivation to complete my assignments. After graduation, I attended community college and that is where I truly fell in love with the process of making art and the happiness it brought me. For a few more years, I continued to struggle with deciding which path I should take and eventually wondered if college was even a good fit for me.

One day, in 2015, I passed by an empty storefront in my hometown's local historic district with a 'FOR RENT' sign hanging in the front window. It was at that moment I decided to trade my school books for paintbrushes and take the leap of faith to open my own art studio. I am now an entrepreneur and business owner of Wooden Ladder Art Loft, where I teach all ages how to make art.
The decision to start my own business has led me to so many other amazing opportunities, one, in particular, being my decision to start Live Event Paintings. Providing these unique and special offerings to people across the country has been a huge blessing in my life because I get to experience the joy that my art can bring to others, and that is what makes me so passionate about my career.

Teaching, making & selling my art is what I love to do and I am incredibly grateful that I have been able to turn my passion into my full-time career. Thank you for visiting my shop and I hope that my art can bring you as much joy as it brings me!
